Tesla Charging Cost is built to minimize collection of personal and financial information.

Browser storage

If you choose to save a Tesla Profile, model preferences are stored in your browser’s local storage. You can clear them with the Clear local data control. Loan amounts, VINs, mileage, finance inputs, charging rates, state of charge, battery capacity, and driving miles are not put into share URLs.

VIN lookup

A submitted VIN is sent by POST to this site and then to the public NHTSA vPIC service. The application uses a short-lived cache keyed by an irreversible hash, returns only selected decoded fields, and does not place the VIN in application logs, analytics, page titles, or URLs.

Analytics and advertising

This MVP does not configure analytics or advertising. If they are added later, the site will not send VINs, vehicle price, mileage, financial amounts, or charging inputs in analytics events.
